2015 Ford Mustang

There's been quite of a lot of chatter recently regarding the details of the 2015 Ford Mustang. As you're all probably aware, the iconic pony car will be redesigned just in time for its 50th anniversary and it seems that Ford is in the final planning stages.Although they're keeping a tight lid on the details, AutoExpress recently spoke with Matthias Ton, the chief program engineer for the Focus ST as well as Ford's entire performance car lineup regarding details for the next Focus RS.

In the course of their conversation, Ton revealed that if the next-gen RS is given the green light, it'll be powered by a tuned version of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost that's still being developed. All told, this engine will produce around 330hp.Now, in order to make this engine a worthwhile investment, Ford will need to place it another model. Ton then indicated that it'll likely be used as the base engine in the next Mustang, effectively replacing the V6 or turning it into an option. If this turns out to be the case, then we can expect for the next base Mustang to have about a 25 percent horsepower advantage over the current 3.7-liter V6.
