The first official photo and initial details have leaked to the web of the new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake ahead of the model's debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.
The very welcome leak comes courtesy of British car magazine Auto Express who likely received the material for their print magazine ahead of the embargo. It seems a mistake was made as the post was taken down soon after, but not before WCF staffers could get their hands on it.
The new variant of the CLS range will arrive in European showrooms in November with only two diesel power units confirmed to be employed. These consist of the CLS250 CDI that produces 201hp and the CLS350 CDI that produces 261hp. We would expect a couple of petrol units to also make its way into the line-up and details are expected to be announced closer to the launch date.
One petrol unit we can definitely expect is the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 that will power the high performance CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake. Rumors have stated it will generate around 518 hp (386kW / 525hp) and 700Nm (516lb-ft) of torque which should allow it accelerate from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in around 4.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kph (155mph).
