Ssangyong to Unveil e-XIV Concept in Paris

Following the XIV-1 Concept shown in Frankfurt and the XIV-2 that debuted in Geneva, South Korean carmaker SsangYong will use the 2012 Paris Motor Show to unveil its electric car concept, the e-XIV.The off-brand automaker's range-extended "electric-eXciting user Interface Vehicle" is a new compact crossover lying within the XIV design series that utilizes a small gasoline engine paired to an electric motor. As with the previous concepts, the e-XIV is all about user interactivity.

The concept, which serves more as a showcase of Ssangyong's innovation than a preview of any particular production vehicle, features a centralized interface incorporating all major cabin function controls that can be accessed remotely, which should appeal to younger buyers and the smartphone-savvy generation. No specs have been revealed, save for the concept's dimensions: 4,160 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,575 mm high, with a 2,600mm wheelbase. There's also a glass roof, which boasts solar cell panels supplying pollution free solar energy that will most likely be used to power the vehicle's ancillary functions.
