Vauxhall has introduced an entry-level Ampera in the United Kingdom.
Named the Earth, the model is currently available for order and is priced from £29,995 after government incentives. Despite its lower price tag, the car comes nicely equipped with power windows / locks, electronic climate control and a seven-inch touchscreen display.

Like the standard model, the Ampera Earth has a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers an electric motor which develops 150 hp (111 kW / 152 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. It enables the car to hit a top speed of 100 mph (161 km/h) and travel up to 40 miles (64 km) on electricity alone. When the battery becomes low, a 1.4-liter petrol engine-generator activates to recharge it.
