Mercedes has announced plans to offer three different
SLS AMG Matte Editions in Japan.
First up, the ¥30,000,000 ($377,028 / €299,599) Matte Black roadster has a designo Magno Night Black exterior with a black soft top and red accents on the grille, wheels and fuel-filler cap. The two-tone cabin features red and black leather upholstery, a sport steering wheel and special floor mats. Production will be limited to five units and deliveries are slated to begin in September.
Likewise, the
SLS AMG Matte White roadster has a designo Magno Cashmere White exterior with contrasting black accents. There's also porcelain and black leather upholstery, an
AMG steering wheel and special floor mats. Production will be limited to five units and pricing starts at ¥30,000,000 ($377,028 / €299,599).
Lastly, the Matte White coupe is virtually identical to the roadster but costs ¥29,000,000 ($364,460 / €289,612) and ten units will be available.
Nothing will be done under the hood, so the special edition is mainly for aesthetic purposes and could be replicated if an
SLS AMG owner really wanted to. The contrasting color scheme finds its way into the cockpit as well with the black variant getting a black and red interior, while the white one features black and porcelain on the inside.
Available as an option will be carbon-ceramic brakes. No pricing was announced, but it’ll be another sad model we’ll never see in America. Fortunately, we’re willing to bet some enthusiasts will do it on their own. For now, we’ll just wait for the new
SLS AMG GT to hit the streets.
