Eric Clapton's Ferrari SP12 EC officially unveiled

For a Ferrari enthusiast and great musician like Eric Clapton a one-off car just had to be produced. Designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and the engineers from Maranello, the SP12 EC was created as homage to Clapton’s career and his long lasting experience as a Ferrari owner.

The moniker is derived from 'SP' for Special Projects, '12' from the 512 BB, and 'EC' from slowhand himself. The bespoke model is based on the 458 Italia and was built as part of Ferrari's One-Off Programme.

 Clapton described the project as "an incredible experience, one of the most satisfying things I've ever done."Whether the build was purely cosmetic or whether more power was generated from the 458's 4.5-liter V8 has yet to be announced.
